Venus, the Roman goddess of love and beauty, represents fertility, pleasure, and the feminine aspect in all of us. She is the creational Earth Mother.
As the myth goes, she was playing with her boy Cupid one day and wounded her bossom with one of his arrows. Before the wound heeled she beheld Adonis, and proceeded to fall deeply in love with him.
Original artwork was created in charcoal and gouache on paper.
